FAQs
Why should I enrol in a short course? What is the benefit?
Our short courses are a popular choice for people looking to hone a specific skill quickly. Here are some of the other key advantages:
- Cost effective: Less expensive than a full program, but still contains the same high-quality content. Short courses are an affordable option to continue your development.
- Flexible scheduling: Scheduled multiple times throughout the year. Find a day and time that works best for you!
- Time efficiency: Conducted over one full day, so you have minimal time away from the office or your work. Our short courses don't require a huge investment of time to get results.
- Easy to access: They're conducted over Zoom, so you don't need to travel to participate (saving you time and money). This makes our short courses a perfect option for those not located near one of our offices. Access quality education regardless of your location.
- Relevant and up to date: Regularly updated, our short courses cover the latest trends, and best practices so that you stay current and relevant.
Overall, short courses offer a flexible and efficient way to enhance your skills and advance your career.
Do I interact with other participants during the short course?
Yes! We receive lots of positive feedback that our short courses are highly interactive. We encourage you to openly share your thoughts, experiences and challenges during the course – the more you put in, the more you get out. Our short courses are run as small group workshops which makes it easier for you to interact with peers. The format also requires participation in break-out discussions. The small group learning format means you get more time to interact with our experienced facilitators to discuss real life issues and experiences.
Do I get a certificate of completion?
Yes, upon request, and we encourage you to share your learning and development with your peers and network (either via social media or internally in your workplace with your colleagues).
Do I get tools and resources to take away?
Yes! Participants often comment that they are aware of how to handle certain situations in theory but that the short course gave them the tools and strategies to effectively deal with the situation head-on.
Our short courses are practical, and you will receive an Action Plan and Resources Pack to refer to in the future.
Who are the short courses for?
The short answer is everyone!
Our short courses cover specific skills which are needed by everyone in the workforce. They apply to people at any level, in any role type, in any industry.
Our experienced facilitators are adept at tailoring their advice depending upon the level of seniority of the participant, so you'll get advice that is at the appropriate level just for you (that's another benefit of our small group workshop format!).
What makes our short courses different?
Our short courses include the same high quality that is learnt about a specific topic in our longer management and leadership courses. They are in-depth and cover a lot of content, so you receive great value from your time and money investment.
We know that our short courses are affordable because they are a much better price than what is offered by most of our competitors. We're a not-for-profit, so we prioritise ensuring that people have access to high quality and affordable training.
Who will be teaching me?
We've chosen some of the best management and leadership facilitators in the business. The same facilitators that deliver our popular longer leadership courses also deliver our short courses.
You will be taught by a facilitator with thorough knowledge of our content and lived experience. Most of our facilitators have had long and successful careers in senior management roles or in running their own business.
Why do you offer training on these topics? What if I need training on a topic that is not listed?
We deliver short courses on the skills gaps that we see most commonly in businesses (of all shapes and sizes and industry types). These skills are often the ones needed most – for example, effective communication and time management are necessary for success in any business.
The short courses listed on our website are the skills that are most in demand. However, we have a whole library of topics that you can access. Why not contact us here to discuss what you need. We may have a solution for you.
Alternatively, check out the list of all the different topics we can offer as a tailored in-house short course solution here.
What are CPD credits?
CPD stands for Continuous Professional Development. It involves engaging in activities and learning experiences that enhance your professional skills, knowledge, and competencies over time. This can include formal education, training courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, and self-directed learning.
IML ANZ offers a formal accreditation, known as Chartered Practising Manager. Undertaking yearly CPD is compulsory to retain and maintain CPMgr accreditation. Certified Practising Managers are required to obtain a minimum of 48 credits per 2-year period (which equates to 48 hours of professional development or 2 hours per month).
All of the Institute's Short Courses, leadership courses, webinars, and events carry CPD credit points. CPD points can also be obtained by attending other conferences and courses, L&D activities, and other informal ways of learning. CPD points must be logged within your CPD Portal profile.
