Great communication. Goes above and beyond. Always there to help out. I know I am developing from this mentoring.

My goal as a mentor is to give back to emerging leaders. I love to learn about their particular challenges and ask good questions to help them experiment and gain wisdom as leaders. All of my mentees have grown professionally. That is extremely satisfying.

My mentor has greatly exceeded my expectations both in terms of her impressive background and her expert mentoring skills. She always guides our conversations just where they need to go and I look forward to every meeting.

Mentoring has enabled me to have someone that I can trust to talk to. I’ve never had a mentor in my life and having one now I don’t want to be without one ever. It really makes a difference to your progression.

Achieving IML accreditation has proven to be a significant career milestone for me because it served to formalise Management as my career path. It consolidated and recognised, through rigorous accreditation, more than 20 years of employment experience including five years of post University Management experience at the time of Accreditation. I have found that achieving the CMgr & CPMgr designations, in addition to being welcome internationally recognised Awards, has focused my thinking and career goals on achieving the highest levels of professionalism and performance, including helping and developing others, which has been made possible through membership of a professional body such as IML. The high quality CPD requirements, opportunities and support via the dedicated CPD portal is a fantastic tool for training and development. I would encourage anyone that’s interested in business and Management to become a member of IML and pursue their accreditation as a career goal and highlight.

The IML ANZ accreditation has provided an invaluable opportunity to reflect and assess the leadership style and approaches I had been using given I hadn’t had any formal assessment since completing an MBA almost 20 years earlier and the infrequent typical leadership style type instruments. I was looking for something that was recognised internationally. While I remain within the same organisation, I have been able to build on the accreditation experience and knowledge and have in fact moved into a new portfolio – Director People and Places from the Corporate Services portfolio. People and Places comprises Business and Precincts, Communication and Citizen Experience, Community Services and People and Culture. Additionally, accreditation has provided an opportunity to build on my existing skills and experience.
