We assess applications for senior-level managers only. If your occupation falls outside of our scope, please refer to the Skilled occupation list to find the appropriate assessing authority for your occupation. You can also find a list of all assessing authorities on the Department of Home Affairs website here.

We are contracted as an assessing authority by the Australian Government to assess senior-level management skills for skilled migration purposes, and work experience is essential for all the occupations that we assess. Unfortunately, recent graduates do not meet the requirements. We encourage you to explore other visa options on the Department of Home Affairs website

or refer to the Skilled occupation list to find the appropriate assessing authority for your profession.

Formal qualifications are not mandatory for a successful Migration Skills Assessment from us. Please refer to the specific assessment criteria for your occupation for more detailed requirements.

No, only one occupation can be assessed per application. Applicants must choose the occupation they wish to be assessed for and provide supporting documents. If applicants wish to be assessed against a different occupation, then a new application must be submitted with documentary evidence to support the different occupation. However, note that conflicting supporting documents for multiple applications may be seen as discrepancies.

Yes, all applications must be accompanied by an upfront application fee. We incur professional and administrative costs of processing and assessing your application, regardless of the outcome. Additionally, we need to assess all the supporting documents and conduct integrity checks for each employment history provided. Therefore, we cannot provide a pre-assessment advice before it’s officially received as it would not be an accurate reflection of the final outcome.

To appoint or end the appointment of a migration agent, please complete our Migration Agent Authorisation Form and submit it as part of your supporting documents after lodging your application.

No, the application fee is non-refundable as it covers the professional and administrative costs of processing and assessing your application regardless of the outcome.

You may withdraw your application within 2 business days of submission, but please be aware that a A$50 administration fee will be subtracted from the refunded application fee. No refunds are available for applications withdrawn after the initial 2 business days of lodgement.

Our Express Assessment service is available for applicants who need a faster processing time for their skill assessment application. You can find the estimated timeframe for express assessment on our Processing Times page. When you lodge your application on our website, you have the option to apply for a regular or an express assessment.

If you have already lodged your application and would like to add or cancel the express service, we can accommodate your request, but please note that a A$50 administration fee will apply.

This Document Checklist provides an overview of the required supporting documentation and how to prepare it.

A positive outcome of a Migration Skills Assessment is valid for three years from the date of issue, while some older assessment results are valid for two years. The validity period is stated in your assessment result letter.

Assessment outcome letters that were issued with a validation period of two years can be extended for a maximum of 12 months making the outcome valid for three years from the date of issue.

The extension request is solely intended to extend the validity of the original outcome letter and does not cover any changes or endorsements related to any new employment you’ve obtained since the original outcome issue date.

Applicants wishing to extend their outcome letter can lodge their request using our online form. An additional fee is payable cover the costs of processing the extension request.

Yes. If you disagree with the assessment outcome you can:

  • request to have your assessment decision reviewed; or
  • appeal the decision if your original and/or review applications were both unsuccessful.

We base our educational assessment on the Country Education Profiles (CEP) prepared by the Australian Government Department of Education. If the institution where you obtained your qualification/s is not listed in CEP or is stated as not assessable, or if the institution is not accredited by a relevant accreditation body in your country, your qualification will not be assessed/recognised by us.  However, the final decision on the awarding points for your qualification/s is at the discretion of the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs.

 

As part of the assessment process, applicants are required to provide an Award certificate as well as a full Academic Transcript as supporting documents. If your formal education does not align with your current career path or industry, your qualification might be deemed not highly relevant to the occupation you are being assessed for. For example, if you hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, and there is no evidence of Supply and Distribution management on your transcript, and you are being assessed as a Supply and Distribution Manager, your Marketing degree will be considered as not highly relevant to the occupation being assessed.

 

Please note that the relevancy of your qualification to your occupation is only considered as part of the skills assessment process. The final decision on awarding points for your qualification/s is at the discretion of the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs.

No, membership of the Institute of Managers and Leaders is not required for assessment purposes, but it is recommended for professional development and networking purposes.

No, any grading of experience undertaken by any us for the purposes of membership does not automatically translate into approval under the Migration Skills Assessment process.

No, we do not require English language test results as part of the Migration Skills Assessment process.
