Welcome to the August edition of Leading Edge.
At the core of everything we do as managers and leaders are people. It is these people whose careers we influence, whose lives we impact and whose success we inspire. As a Member of the IML ANZ community, you’ll know that our priority is to help you make a positive impact on your people, individually and as a collective workplace. That’s why in this edition of Leading Edge, I’d like to focus on how we help you to create a better work environment for you and your teams.
Amid uncertainty and the prevalence of ‘hybrid’ workforces, a sense of separation between people makes it increasingly challenging to maintain a positive work culture. So, I’m excited to let you know that the next IML ANZ Development Day on September 8 will focus on the power of positive workplace cultures. We want to support the management community in alleviating growing concerns that organisational cultures suffer from today’s pressures. As an IML ANZ Member, you’ll once again enjoy complimentary access to three sessions that cover different aspects of improving workplace culture. If you can’t make it on the day, you’ll still gain access to the recordings from every session if you’re registered. You’ll find more information on the sessions and how to register in this edition.
Without a doubt, receiving good guidance creates a positive impact on a person’s career. I believe this is why our mentoring program continues to be one of the most popular benefits among Members. The guidance of an experienced mentor who has your best interest at heart can not only change your career but can also impact your life. With this in mind, I’m delighted that we have launched recent improvements to our mentoring program, making it even more accessible to more managers and leaders. Our MemX mentoring program now boasts the use of cutting-edge digital technology to find better matches between mentors and mentees. And you can register to be paired with a mentor or mentee anytime without the need to stick to registration cut-off dates. If you haven’t already, check out our MemX Mentoring program via the link in this edition.
When I hear about our Members’ stories, it becomes an affirmation that our community exists to create positive experiences for our teams. For example, I was reading about one of our outstanding Chartered Managers and Fellows, Billie-Jo Barbara. It is truly inspiring to learn that her motivation for becoming a better manager and leader is to help her team members grow in their skills, capabilities, and careers. You can read more about Billie-Jo’s reflection on leadership in this edition’s Member Spotlight. Finally, I’d like to thank you for renewing your Membership with IML ANZ. We can only provide the support managers and leaders need to enable their teams because our membership remains strong. If we continue to back our vision, we’ll build on our illustrious 80-year legacy of pre-eminence among the management profession. If you have yet to renew, I’d encourage you to get in touch with the team so that you too can remain part of this community that’s creating positive experiences in so many workplaces.
