David French

Global Defence, Operations Lead & People Capability at Accenture

Short Bio

David is a Defence and National Security consultant incorporating over 25 years’ experience in the Australian Army and as a consultant to the Department of Defence and other Government agencies. David currently works as Accenture’s Global Defence Operations Lead, coordinating efforts between Accenture’s 18 different Defence Accounts across North America, Asia, Oceania, the Middle East and Europe. He also works in Accenture’s Strategy and Consulting team where his focus is on developing new ways to incorporate technology into workforce planning, strategy and management utilising data analytics and Generative AI.

As an Infantry Officer in the Army David led soldiers in some of the most hostile and dangerous deployments in the Middle East as well as peacekeeping and national building operations in South-East Asia. His final postings were in the Army’s Strategic Plans cell where he worked as Army’s lead strategic workforce planner.

Since retiring from the Army David has continued to serve Australia through is work as a Defence and National Security consultant. He has worked on and led projects in electronic warfare, intelligence, physical security, counter-espionage and strategy with a focus on learning and development, workforce planning and acquisitions. David has also led businesses units in small and large companies including the multi-award winning BCT Solutions.

David is a passionate advocate for veterans and a leading voice on veterans employment. He leads the 5th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment Association, a not-for-profit organisation that supports over 700 Army veterans and their families from the Vietnam war era onwards. David regularly speaks on veterans employment, mental health and his own experiences in combat and peacekeeping operations as a way of enhancing understanding of the modern Australian veteran.
