Peter Achterstraat AM FIML
NSW Productivity and Equality Commissioner
Short Bio
Peter Achterstraat AM FIML, is the inaugural NSW Productivity Commissioner having been appointed in May 2018.
He is also Chair of ASIC Audit and Risk Committee, Bankstown Airport Ltd, Commonwealth Department of Agriculture and Forestry and Fisheries Audit & Risk Committee.
Peter is also the former Auditor General of NSW and a former Deputy Commissioner of Taxation with more than 30 years' experience in finance and governance.
Prior to this, he was the Chief Commissioner State Revenue for New South Wales from July 1999. He holds an honours degree in Economics as well as degrees in Law and Commerce from the ANU.
Peter was admitted to the Bar of the NSW Supreme Court in 1983 and in 2006 Peter was admitted into the ANU College of Business and Economics Hall of Fame. In 2014, Peter was awarded an Order of Australia for his Financial Management and Governance roles.
