Remote and hybrid team leadership: Best practices for productivity and inclusion

Institute of Managers and Leaders ANZ and Australian HR Institute joint event

Why do some remote and hybrid teams thrive while others struggle?

Because leading across distance requires more than flexibility – it demands intentional leadership.

Join us for an engaging and practical event in partnership with AHRI, where we’ll explore what it really takes to lead high-performing, inclusive remote and hybrid teams in today’s evolving workplace.

In this interactive session, we’ll unpack the common challenges leaders face when managing teams across distances – from communication breakdowns and disengagement to inequitable experiences between in-office and remote employees. You will also hear from Sam Bell, CEO at IML and Dr Anna Blackman, QLD President of AHRI, as they share real-world strategies to drive productivity, foster trust, and create a sense of belonging regardless of where people are located in an insightful and impactful fireside chat.

The session will explore the critical role leaders and HR Managers play in setting expectations, maintaining connection, and embedding inclusive practices across hybrid environments. Together, we’ll examine how intentional leadership behaviours can support consistency, collaboration, and sustainable performance.

What to expect from the session:

  • Best practices for leading productive remote and hybrid teams
  • Practical tools to cultivate inclusion, connection, and equity across locations
  • Strategies to support engagement, wellbeing, and sustainable performance

Whether you lead fully remote teams, hybrid workforces, or are navigating the transition between the two, this session will equip you with the confidence and capability to lead with clarity, inclusion, and impact, while connecting with fellow IML and AHRI members.

We look forward to seeing you there.
