As a member of the Institute of Managers and Leaders, I am part of a fantastic Management Institute who have assisted me throughout my leadership journey. I am supported and encouraged by the team who have helped me grow to be a better leader.
I have had the opportunity to become more actively involved in the Institute’s activities through attendance at professional development events, as a Mentor in the Mentoring Program and a NSW State Finalist for Community Leader of the Year in the 2016 Australian Leadership Excellence Awards. The Institute has provided me with new insights into the value of professional Membership in a rapidly changing business environment.
Throughout the duration of my degree the Institute have provided me not only a platform to showcase some of the work I do as an individual or as part of a team, but they have also demonstrated that they are a community of like-minded individuals who have the ability to celebrate each other's achievements, no matter how big or small.
I have been an Institute member since 1996 and have had many great national and international opportunities to network with people and industries which continually update my knowledge and grow my personal capability. As a fortune 100 business improvement executive and practitioner of organisational change, and working closely with the Institute and its Members has share my knowledge, support personal and professional development across all industry sectors.
The pilgrimage from corporate to entrepreneur has not been without its challenges or rewards and my ten-year membership with the Institute has contributed immeasurable value to this journey. The Institute has provided me with access to diverse connections; mentoring opportunities; hearing from interesting individuals on stimulating topics and enabled me to be a part of a larger management community. All of which has supported and encouraged me in my career transition. If you’re not making the most out of your Membership, you’re not making the most out of your career!
The Institute supports research into a range of management issues. Our findings are then presented to the Membership to show the impact of our research on management capability around the world.
I’ve been a Member now for 11 years, ever since I commenced my leadership development company, People Empowered. Providing the opportunity for me to interact and build connections with other leaders and managers has been the greatest contribution the Institute has made to my professional development. Meeting with other like-minded, highly motivated leaders and the sharing of ideas and insights with them has greatly enhanced my professional life. I deeply value the opportunity to be part of a national organisation specifically committed to leadership development which is my professional sector.
My Institute experience has been tremendous. My membership of the Institute over the past year has been rewarding in several ways. The insights I've gained from the speakers have been pertinent and applicable to my professional life. I've also been impressed by the experience and calibre of the other members, and the breadth of the organisations represented makes for a great network to be part of. What I'm aiming to do this year, though, is to maximise the online resources available to me, and potentially the mentoring program as part of my own commitment to continue to develop my skills.
