Rod Francisco AFIML CMgr, Manager People and Culture of Mackay Regional Council

Rod is an experienced HR generalist with a passion for developing and building positive workplace cultures based upon values and leadership. He holds qualifications in politics, business, HR and IR, as well as being an accredited workplace coach, coupled with a strong mentoring background both with IML and AHRI as well as in resource industry and tertiary sector programs.

As a former Army officer, Rod has an extensive background in leadership training which has been further developed over the past 10 years in mapping and implementing in-house leadership development programs as well as engaging in industry and regional leadership forums and workshops.

Rod has held a number of leadership roles across a variety of backgrounds in teams ranging from two to 150+ in countries including the UK, East Timor, Iraq and Sierra Leone, and in some of the more remote locations in Australia. Rod has been involved across a range of functions including maintenance, logistics, HR, aviation/accommodation, and indigenous employment and training.

In Rod’s current role as the Manager People and Culture at Mackay Regional Council he is accountable for implementing a significant cultural and organisational change program built upon values, leadership, learning (both organisational and individually), and organisational design and development.


Patricia O’Callaghan MIML, CEO of Townsville Enterprise Limited

As Chief Executive Officer of Townsville Enterprise Limited (TEL), Patricia O’Callaghan is responsible for driving the economic development strategies for Townsville North Queensland.

Patricia offers over 10 years of successful economic development, advocacy, project management, marketing and public relations experience combined with a three year degree in Business majoring in Public Relations and Marketing.

Patricia was the recipient of the 2014 Australian Institute of Management – Young Manager of the Year Award for Queensland and currently sits on the Australian Institute of Company Directors – Townsville Committee, the Queensland Country Credit Union Board, and the Australian Association Convention Bureaux Board.


Scott Timmins AFIML People Solutions Specialist at TP Human Capital

Scott is a people solutions specialist who has a passion for providing sustainable solutions to organisations helping them to deal with the complexities of the modern workforce. His passion stems from seeing ordinary peoples achieve things they never thought possible.
With over a decade of professional experience facilitating conferences, design workshops and leadership development programs across Australia, Scott’s programs are not only based on the latest research in psychology and neuroscience, but are also engaging and exciting, leaving participants wanting more.
Scott is extremely passionate about talent identification, leading with emotional intelligence and strengths-based leadership. Joe Hoolahan, Founding CEO of JESI

Joe Hoolahan is the Founding CEO of JESI, a global journey management software business. JESI is an anywhere, anytime tool solving the mobile workforce challenge of helping enterprise understand where their employees are and if they are OK, and allows for real-time communication with staff teams from any location.

A champion of regional innovation, Joe played a founding role in developing an innovation centre for the Townsville Region in Queensland Australia where JESI is based. As testament to the ability for technology businesses to operate globally from any location, in 2016, JESI was the first regional business to receive direct investment funding from the Queensland Government under the Advance Queensland scheme.

Prior to establishing JESI in 2012, Joe worked as a business development and marketing specialist within the corporate training and sporting sectors. His experience includes working with established brands such as the North Queensland Cowboys and Tec-NQ with extensive connections throughout the regions of Queensland.


Sandra Moore BSc FIML – Regional Executive Director at Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services

Over the past 20 years, Ms Moore has held several executive and senior leadership roles within non-government and private enterprise organisations. Ms Moore was appointed to the position of Regional Executive Director of the Department of Communities, North Queensland in January 2015.

Ms Moore leads a team over 485 staff in North Queensland who are focused on the delivery of child protection service delivery, disability and community services.

 Prior to the role of Regional Executive Director, Ms Moore was Chief Operating Officer for the Central and North West Queensland Medicare Local since 2011. Prior to that role, she was the Regional Manager for the Cancer Council Queensland from 2009. Ms Moore’s earlier career was in management roles in engineering companies, including the Shell Company of Australia.

Ms Moore holds an undergraduate Chemistry Degree (Applied Chemistry) with an Organic Chemistry and an Environmental Science major. Ms Moore also holds a Graduate Diploma of Management and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Institute of Managers and Leaders. Ms Moore holds a position on the Regional Advisory Committee of the Institute of Managers and Leaders (IML).


Warwick Powell, Chairman and Founder of Sister City Partners Ltd

Warwick Powell is founder and chairman of Sister City Partners Ltd, a regional not-for-profit investment banking enterprise. He is a director of a number of companies in Australia and Hong Kong involved in investment banking, big data analytics, renewable energy and agribusiness services.
He is a recognised creative thinker in economic, social and enterprise development with 20 years’ experience in identify and assessing social and economic impacts across a broad range of public policy propositions and development activities and initiatives. His expertise in this arena is reflected in being invited to deliver a complete 13-week course on ‘creativity, innovation and leadership in the 21st century’ for James Cook University’s MBA program. He is the author or co-author of a range of research papers and conference papers, cutting across areas as diverse as regional financial innovation through to the socio-aesthetics of urban design and open space.


Jilinda Lee FIML, Leadership and Organisational Development Consultant

Known for her vibrant, passionate personality, Jilinda Lee doesn’t blend in with the ordinary, nor is she inspired by the average. She is a change champion; continually embracing change as an opportunity to learn and experience new things, places, people, and adventures.

Jilinda Lee is an accredited and highly experienced Leadership Coach and Organisational Development specialist, Institute of Managers and Leaders (IML) Mentor, 2017 ALEAs judge, and business partner of the Lean In global equality movement; with a driven focus on developing dynamic, game-changing leaders.

From small business owner, to extensive experience in State and Local Government sectors across three states, community leadership roles, and now in her leadership and organisational development consulting role, she shares the depth of diverse experiences and valuable knowledge through meaningful and powerful personal stories, to challenge and inspire others.

As a presenter, Jilinda delivers lively, straight-shooting presentations, designed to engage and empower her audience to be the change; to be the vital leaders the world so desperately needs. Jilinda is currently finishing her first book, with a deliberate focus on inspiring more women to step up into leadership roles.


Claire Holland, Lecturer in the Conflict Management and Resolution Program at James Cook University.

Claire is a Lecturer in the Conflict Management and Resolution Program and Law degree at James Cook University (JCU). Claire is an accredited mediator and accredited conflict coach. She currently also works as a facilitator for Scope Global, a mediator for the Queensland Dispute Resolution Branch, Department of Justice and Attorney-General, and has a consultancy practice, Conflict Resolutions.

Claire has previously worked in International Development roles. She was a Mediation Specialist with International Rescue Committee, working with the Legal Assistance Centre in refugee camps on the Thailand/Burma border. Claire also worked in the Philippines as a Capacity Development Officer with a local NGO to support rural and remote communities develop understanding of negotiation skills, participatory governance and gender equality.

 


Sarah Chapman MIML, Head of Department of Science at Townsville State High School

Sarah Chapman is the Head of Department of Science at Townsville State High School. Sarah is passionate about inspiring, engaging and empowering people through STEM, to build lifelong connections with the dynamic possibilities of STEM. Sarah lifts the profile of STEM in the community, as an Executive Committee member of Women in STEMM Australia and Vice President of the Queensland Science Teachers Association.

Sarah won a Barbara Cail STEM Fellowship in 2016, which involved international travel to research best practice in engaging young people into STEM. Sarah was awarded the 2013 Prime Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Secondary Science Teaching.


 

Breece Gevaux, Officer – Australian Army

Breece has a breadth of experience as a leader in strategic planning, Defence and emergency management. His greatest strengths are in relationship building and leadership development. He is a people person who is passionate about developing effective teams through enhancing individual strengths.

Breece has recently returned from Operations in Iraq with the ADF. His team were responsible for the training of Iraqi Security Forces as they continue to counter the impact of terrorism.

Breece has recently completed his MBA at Deakin University and was awarded a Deakin Hallmark for Global Citizenship Excellence as well as finalist in the Australian Leadership Excellence Awards for QLD.


 

Marsha Zuhorn, CEO – Coast to Country Housing Company

Marsha has over 20 years’ experience in the delivery of social housing having worked across both the government and community housing sector. Marsha has held the role of Chief Executive Officer of Coast to Country Housing Company for the past 12 years. During her time as CEO Marsha has guided the organisation through significant growth of over 400%.

Marsha is a vibrant person who is passionate about the Company’s commitment to increase its involvement and investment into social and affordable housing for the community.

Marsha has a Graduate Certificate of Social Science (Housing Management & Policy) and a Graduate Diploma in Community Sector Management.

Coast to Country Housing Company was awarded “Employer of the Year” by the Townsville of Chamber of Commerce in 2013. Also in 2013, Marsha received an Australian Leadership Excellence Award and Marsha was the recipient of the Townsville Chamber “Chamber Champion Award” which recognises an outstanding individual for his/her commitment to Townsville and for exemplary leadership. Most recently, Marsha was the Regional Winner for the Not For Profit Category in the Australian Leadership Excellence Awards from Institute of Managers and Leaders.


Kylie Bartlett, Founder – Women of Achievement, Creative Collaborator and Speaker

Kylie is passionate about positive leadership, creativity, collaboration and innovation. With her family, Kylie owns and operates Kim Bartlett Master Jewellers in Townsville and works at James Cook University as an Education Designer and Learning Advisor. Kylie is also the designer behind The Life Lab – a virtual and physical platform inspiring humans to lead, love and leap to potential. Kylie works with and mentors individuals, organisations, schools and businesses as a critical friend. She facilitates professional conversations, stakeholder interviews and strategy days, and delivers feedback, encouraging reflective and practical processes to enable transformative and cultural change.

Kylie is also the founder of the local “Women of Achievement” movement. A collaborative community for women across local, national and global networks to share inspirational stories and words of wisdom to give back and inspire other women to follow their dreams. Women of Achievement is hinged on one phenomenal word… ELEVATE. Kylie believes when women and girls from diverse backgrounds and experiences share their voice authentically and courageously they become trailblazers for those who follow.
